Facts about AXA

AXA is very much a New Zealand company

The foundations of AXA New Zealand stretch back over 120 years, initially starting as National Mutual. Four generations of New Zealanders have trusted us to look after their financial well-being, whether that means investment, financial protection or superannuation.

Our approach is based on being steadfast by ‘sticking to our knitting’

AXA’s success and longevity is the result of focusing all our resources on three areas – investment, financial protection and retirement. By ‘sticking to our knitting’ we’ve been there for you in good times and bad, and we continue to take that long-term view.

AXA merges with AMP

On 31 March 2011, AMP and AXA Asia Pacific Holdings' (AXA APH) Australian and New Zealand business merged, bringing together two of Australia and New Zealand's longest standing businesses, and creating a competitive new force in financial services for New Zealanders.

Together, AXA and AMP is now the largest non-bank wealth manager in Australia and New Zealand. We lead the market in workplace superannuation and retail managed funds in New Zealand, and we lead the market in superannuation, personal insurance, retirement incomes, retail managed funds and financial advice in Australia.

This means we have the size, talent and resources to offer a real alternative to the major banks for New Zealanders.

 Our People

AXA has over 300 staff working to help our customers all over New Zealand to save for the future and financially protect what is important to them. Our combined AXA and AMP leadership team is made up of some of the most experienced practitioners in the financial services industry.

AXA in the community

As well as helping people achieve their goals in life, we think it’s important to help people in other ways – by making real, positive differences to the communities that we all live in.

AXA supports the community with our Hearts in Action programme. We make donations and work with community organisations such as Canteen, He Huarahi Tamariki School, Mary Potter Hospice, Ronald McDonald House, Wellington City Mission and the Royal NZ Foundation for the Blind.   Our people give their time and skills to help out – this can include serving Christmas dinner at the City Mission or giving advice on how community organisations can best manage their funds.

In addition to funding selected projects and initiatives with our charity partners, we have established a Grant Programme to respond to applications for funds from not for profit organisations. This programme has been established to specifically support worthy initiatives and provide donations for causes/charities that are in line with our overall strategy.
